This and that

I just noticed yesterday was my 50th post!! I don't have any give away's or prize's or anything to celebrate....and I am too pregnant to dance around.....but I am very excited!!!

speaking of being really pregnant, I have 39 days to go! A little over 5 weeks (if he doesn't take his time) I have been so uncomfortable and in so much pain, but it's almost over and I will have a great reward in the end. I can't wait to see what he look's like! I can feel him kicking a little stronger and harder now, and when I lay on my side I can feel him more not sure if I am touching his knee or his booty but it is a cool feeling.

I have so many craft things I want to work on, but I can't get them organized in my head and I don't have enouogh energy or room for it all. Also, the girl's have been over a lot I don't have a moment to myself. With Rambo and Sam following me around everywhere I go, it's hard to get things done. Hopefully I can work on a journal this week and finish making mother's day cards.

Not sure what we will be doing this week, but I hope I will have enough energy to pack some stuff up, work on some crafts and maybe go out on the weekend. I have been stuck in the house for the last 3 week's and I've been so bored. The reason why I've been stuck here is because of the amount of pain and discomfort I am in, I hope Friday or Saturday will be good day's to go antiquing or to do anything really.

Have a good week!

Dollar tree finds

Here are a few more things I got at dollar tree! I just love this place

I got a photo frame to make a little project for Ethan, baby stickers for a journal I am planning on making, a baby rattle punch out, a pack of 4 little composition books, poster board (not in the pic) a little drawer thing that I thought would look cute in the shabby room (I plan on making a corner of the room my craft area) and a 2008 graduation tassel for my nephew Michael. You just got to love Dollar Tree!

The finished product

This dresser has belonged to Greg for the last 12 + years because the closet in our soon to be house is pretty big, there would have been no use for it.....so I got the idea of re-finishing it and giving it to Ethan! Here are some before, during and after pix.

Before

During pic was taken after we called in quits. Sanding is a real hard job

After the sanding was complete
This is the finished product.

It took us 2 Friday's and 1 Saturday to do it. I even helped with the sanding! Greg did the actual sanding and I sanded the edges of drawers with sand paper. Greg bought me a tool to help my hands from getting burned. Greg staned it and laqured it (the smell was too much for me to take) so I took a nap and this is the finished product. All we need now is nice handles.

Weekend finds

We went to Big Hat day's (a st fair) at Old Town Clovis on Saturday and found a few things. There were over 400 booths and so many things to look at. We weren't able to look at everything because.... well, the baby and my bladder were not getting along.... so we had to cut the day short. But we still had fun, it was the first time either of us had gone to it. Here are a few things we bought.

<------- a tea cup holder for the shabby room. Now I just need to look for some pretty tea cups and saucers (darn) I was thinking of putting this on top of the dresser. Or maybe on the night stand, not really sure yet!

A Fresno State Bulldogs pacifier for Ethan. We hope he will play football there one day! (not too soon to think about that is it?)

An October 2007 Romantic homes mag, picked it up for $2.00

We also bought a water bottle for Rambo and a pretty necklace and earring set for MIL's birthday. I will post pics of that later once I am done with the bookmark I am making her.

Dollar tree finds

Greg and I made a mad dash to Dollar Tree this morn (mad dash because we had 10 mins before he had to leave for work) I needed a birthday stamp for a card I am making for my mother in law. Needless to say I brought home a few other things....... and no stamp!

Here are a few of my finds.

<-----March's BH&G I know I'm a month late, but I don't have it and it was only $1. So I can't complain!

<------ A pretty pink ribbon for her present. Not sure if you could tell, but the ribbon has yellow flowers and blue butterflies, it is so pretty! The colors are so cute, blue purple, pink, and yellow....I think I will go back for more. They had a few different colors other than pink.

<---- I thought these bags would look nice (cut up of course) and framed for the master bedroom which will be a french vintage black/white theme. Now all we need are 2-4 pretty white frames, or frames to paint white.....can you say shopping!!!

<----- since I couldn't find any "happy birthday" stamps, I thought I would get a card that says "happy birthday" and cut it out. This one has a dragonfly on it, so I had to get it. We (I should say I) came home with poster board for a bookmark I want to make for her, glue sticks since I just used up my last one and double sided tape!

Quote of the week

There is significance in every moment, and the beauty of life is that you can create your own destiny.

(I like the pic more than the quote, but still worth posting)

This and That

Sorry I have been MIA the last week, I have been in a lot of pain and very uncomfortable the last week. And I was told it only gets worse! We have 8 weeks to go in this wonderful journey and can't wait to get started on the next! Let me catch you up on what happened in the last week.

Well Sunday was Wrestlemania 24! Greg made bbq hamburgers and hotdogs and he helped me make artichoke dip and 7 layer dip ( I don't think I would have been able to stand for very long without his help) Jeffy came over and we ate until there was no room left! Then we indulged in very delicious ice cream from Cold Stone. Wrestlemania was really good, not as good as last years event but still fun to watch. Undertaker won, which was great I would post a pic of him, but I would like to keep this blog pretty and shabby and well, lets face it....he isn't very shabby chic! But you could always check him out at wwe.com and look at his profile/bio.

I spent all Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday trying to relax! Me and Rambo took long naps on each of those days! I've had a lot of back and leg pain, and pain everywhere else for that matter! Pregnancy is not an easy thing. Thursday evening we had our first birthing class, the teacher went over a few things and we watched a vide o. Most of the stuff she went over we already knew from reading What to expect when your expecting and from looking at the website. Our next class is next Thursday!

Friday, Greg had to go into work for a few hours, which was ok with me because I needed the nap! When he got home we worked on the dresser (will make a seperate post for that) we had pizza for dinner and watched hgtv until we fell asleep. It was a fun day, even though Greg had to work for 3 hrs.

Weekend finds

Also picked up this book but at a different antique shop. I will talk more about Saturday later, just wanted to share my pictures before I forget.

Here is a fleur de lis thing(?) I would like to use it in the master bathroom to hold towels, but I don't think it is sturdy enough. So either it will be used as decoration in the master bath or a place for Greg to put his ties on.

The couple who the shabby place belongs to was featured in Romantic Homes..... but it isn't either of these :( But I picked these up for $1 each.

We also went to Shabby Heaven, that also needs it's own post which I probably wont get to tonight because I am babysitting my nieces. Anyway, we bought a few things for the room.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like I said he was having a yard sale, Greg bought a water hose for $1 and bought me 3 books for $.75! I was so excited, I love buying used books and for a quarter each book it just makes it even funner (it's a word...... in my dictionary) Greg didn't take a pic of them so I will talk about them in a different post.

Greg found these cute end tables on craigslist, they were $40. Thought these would look nicer in the shabby room than the wood end tables (which we still want will explain later) it had just been posted for 20 min's so we lucked out! When we got to his house (which was 40 min's away) he said his wife had already sold them, but he gave the customer (he was having a yard sale) their money back because he wanted to give them to us. He and his family seemed so nice. He also said his wife bought them at pier 1 for $100, so $40 was a good deal especially for night stands that don't look used. What do you think? would they look nicer in the shabby room than the antique wood ones?

A few more things

and a few old ones.... these 3 go with the themes we are thinking about. They are Paris and French inspired themes.

He also bought me the new issue of Romantic homes........

ETA: This is March's issue, April already came out......but hey, it's new to me!

I'm thinking of using this to keep pens or maybe mailing stamps in and keep it on my desk, not sure yet, but for $5.00 I thought it was too cute to pass up. Greg agreed.

We got this for the master bath, goes with our theme. Fell in love with it the moment I saw it!

not too shabby...

We found these curtains in the clearance section at Walmart for $5.00, it's a bit creamy but for $5.00 I'm not complaining! It has a pretty lace at the bottom, I will take better pictures once they are hung up in the house.... as for now they are staying in the bag so they don't get dirty.

We found this great window pane with handle today for $18.00 We are going to hang this in above the bed in the shabby room. It was used length wise like the pic above, but Greg got the idea of putting it sideways like the pic below and hanging it by the hinges. I loved his idea and think it will add more character. This window isn't as beat up as the one's we saw on Wednesday, plus it was cheaper!

nick knacks

These are some of the little things we bought on Wednesday that I posted about yesterday. I think we found some good things! We had fun shopping, the weather has been perfect for it. Greg and I love antiquing especially in the Spring and Summer. It makes the day so much more enjoyable, people are friendly and there are cute puppies walking around everywhere!

I've been looking for music books at every antique shop, second hand shop bookstore place we enter, but have never found any. We went into our local good will store and I found a book shelf full of them! I bought a few books, the most expensive was $3.00! I can't wait to get started on some crafts! I haven't looked at the years yet, but when I do I will post about them. They have such character, haven't decided if I want to go through with the cutting or not.

Greg found these antique door knobs at our local antique shop (same place we might be getting the night stands from) he wants to put them on the cabinets he built. I think they will look so cute, he has great ideas!  I have never posted his cabinets on here, I will post those later today if not tomorrow. He is so talented.

We are going for a Vintage french theme in the master bedroom and bath, I thought this would be cute to put my facial products in and set on the counter. Got this at the Salvation army $5.00. Greg says he can paint it black to match the towels, but I think this color wouldn't clash with it. I guess we'll have to wait to see how it looks on the counter before we decide what to do.

antiquing we went!

Greg and I went antiquing after he got off work yesterday here are a few pix of stuff we might go back for tomorrow...

I love this window um...thing (?)  as soon as I saw it I thought it would look perfect above the bed in my shabby room. But it was $30, not sure if I want to pay that much for a window.

I liked these too, but they were $18 each, I really like the first one better. Still thinking about it, although I would love to see it in my shabby room!

Here are the night stands I want to buy (there are 2, but only one in the pic ;) ) they are $70 for the set. I want to sand them down, paint them white, distress them a little and put them in my shabby room. Greg and I are going to a few antique shops tomorrow so if we don't find anything there we will go back for these.

We did buy a few little nick knacks, but my photographer AKA my hubby is playing xbox and has an intense look on his face, so he is either winning or getting creamed...either way I don't want to interrupt so I will post pix tomorrow.
